I began my journey into the light in 2003, shortly after I graduated from UGA. I didn't know much about the Order, but my mom was a member and my aunt the Worthy Matron, so I decided to apply, blindly. Our chapter at that time had about a dozen members, most of which were very such my seniors when it came to age. My aunt was the new Worthy Matron and had no yet began some of her to be influences on the chapter. Yet, just as soon as I became a SiSTAR, I relocated to Wisconsin to pursue my graduate degree. Iwasn't until I moved back to my beloved hometown did I reinstate my membership. Now, I truly began my travels. . .
History of Our Chapter
http://hulin93oes.blogspot.com/
Named to honor the memory of the mother of Odell Young, our first Worthy Matron, the Hulin Chapter #93 of the Order of the Eastern Star had it's inception on October 14, 1978.
During it's inaugural year, our chapter assisted the Northeast Georgia's 13th District in hosting the Annual Grand Communication for the Most Worshipful Smooth Ashlar Grand Lodge, here in our very city of Athens, GA.
The Hulin Chapter #93 continues to make a positive impact on the community through various charitable events. Members take the time to visit those who are ill and extend a helping hand to assist those in need in any way possible. Chapter members attend state-wide OES workshops and continue to assist with workshops held in the 13th District.
In recent years, our Chapter has participated in an Annual Christmas Empty Stocking Drive, during which we collect toys, food, and clothing for children in need. Sisters of the Hulin Chapter #93 also assist our Brother Masons with their Annual Bike-a-Thon: an event during which Brother Masons collect old discarded bikes and restore them to like new conditions. The newly restored bikes are then to be distributed to families who might not otherwise be able to afford bikes for their children.
We are not only members of a fraternal organization with such rich and extensive history; we are all part of a family, world-wide, of strong Christian men & women, fairest among thousands, altogether lovely.
